CatCap advises endpoint security specialist EgoSecure on its acquisition by Matrix42

CatCap advises EgoSecure, a leading provider of endpoint security software, on its acquisition by Matrix42. Matrix42 acquires the majority of ownership from InfoWatch, a group of integrated security assurance companies. EgoSecure, headquartered in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe, Germany, has specialized in the protection of end devices and data for more than ten years. EgoSecure is an established software provider in the German-speaking and European market with over 2,000 customers and for many years a technology partner of Matrix42. Matrix42 entered the end-user security market last year through a technology alliance with security start-up enSilo. The products for data encryption, interface and application control as well as security monitoring now complete the Matrix42 Endpoint Security Suite.

According to Gartner (1), the market for terminal security will grow by more than 45% to $1.5 billion worldwide by 2020. In particular, the huge increase in malware attacks with corresponding economic damage is driving up the demand for security software. To provide customers with even greater endpoint security, Matrix42 extends its existing endpoint security portfolio with EgoSecure software products.

The digital workplace is on the rise, which is why IT service management and endpoint security are converging. However, the productivity of the employees and the security of the terminals must not be in conflict with each other. With the expanded solution portfolio, Matrix42 will offer an integrated security solution that enables 360° security management for PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets and IoT devices.

"Since acquiring EgoSecure in 2011 we have been able to achieve consistently high growth rates at EgoSecure. As a result, EgoSecure has become one of the leading companies in the market. We are proud of this shared track record and are very satisfied with the outcome of the sale", says Natalya Kaspersky (President Infowatch Group), explaining the sale of the majority stake.

EgoSecure founder Sergej Schlotthauer and the entire EgoSecure team with nearly 70 employees will become the center of excellence for security at Matrix42. Sergej Schlotthauer takes over the position as VP Security at Matrix42. In this capacity, he is responsible for the further expansion of the Matrix42 Security area.

CatCap advised the shareholders of EgoSecure on the sale after CatCap already assisted EgoSecure in 2011 with the investment by Infowatch.
